Jenn is our founder, artistic director, and co-choreographer. She holds a BA in Musical Theatre, Level I & II Educational Specialist credential (mod/severe), MA in Teaching (Special Education emphasis), and MS in Educational Administration. She has been fortunate to teach in California for the past 22 years, with four of those years spent as a Special Education Compliance Administrator. Jenn has been repeatedly recognized for her outstanding instruction techniques, superior classroom management strategies, highly effective behavior intervention techniques, and uncanny ability to relate to her students. Jenn's road to teaching began when she was first introduced to theatre her freshman year of high school. Upon receiving her BA, she started substitute teaching and the rest is history. Jenn has performed across California in a variety of musicals, plays, dance troupes, and choir tours. She has won countless competitions and county acknowledgements for her talents and performances. She will be forever grateful for the lessons she has learned and the relationships she has developed as a result of her theatrical experiences. Jenn knows that everything we need to know to live our best lives is learned in the theatre. She is passionately dedicated to sharing that wisdom with all of her student artists. Through lessons and practice developing skills in tenacity, perseverance, creative problem solving, quick thinking, coping with rejection, accepting disappointment, earning rewards, self-reliance, confidence, and independence, our students will grow into unstoppable artists and unstoppable people.
Wilson is our co-director and co-choreographer, working in partnership with Jenn to provide a professional-level musical theatre experience for our student artists. He is also our lead voice coach for accents and character voices and our puppetry teacher. Wilson is a professionally trained and experienced musical theatre performer and voice over actor. He graduated from the Orange County School of the Arts, Musical Theatre program, and has been seen on stages and screens across Southern California. Wilson currently works as a paraeducator in Special Education, providing individualized support to students with moderate/severe disabilities. He firmly believes that students deserve and require respect before and above all else. With respect comes rapport and with rapport comes trust. Once our students have developed trusting rapport with our staff, they will find they are limitless and our show will come together as if by magic. Wilson knows there is no better place to find yourself than in the theatre. He is thrilled to be able to use his talents and passions for both theatre and equal opportunities for differently-abled persons to bring this incredible opportunity to all aspiring student performers!
Ryan is our musical director and vocal coach for singing. He partners closely with Jenn and Wilson to develop our student artists into skilled and knowledgeable musicians. Ryan has extensive experience in the theatre dating back to the early 90's. He graduated from the Los Angeles Music Academy Drum Performance Program and is a founding member of the SoCal band, Brother Jonathan. Ryan is a seasoned Special Education professional and has worked at nearly every grade level as a paraeducator. He specializes in behavior prevention and intervention and does so through mutual respect, setting appropriate expectations, and open communication. Ryan also runs a lapidary business, All Picked Up, and sells rare stones that he has collected, hand carved and polished, and transformed into display pieces and jewelry. All Picked Up is a proud sponsor of Star Equality Theatricals.
Cooper is our production designer and stage manager. He works closely with Jenn to design and create our sets, lighting and sound, and props. Cooper got his start in both theatre and special education at the same time - in preschool. At the tender age of 4 years old, Cooper performed in his first musical, Li'l Abner, and was a full time typical peer model in a preschool for early intervention. Fast forward to today and Cooper is an accomplished vocalist, performer, stage designer, and guitarist. He has performed on stages and in choirs across Southern California. He currently sings bass in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Youth Choir and the Serrano High School choir, performs in local community theatre, and writes original music. The combination of his experiences in the arts and supporting his differently-abled peers in the classroom has cultivated for Cooper a mastery in reading body language, understanding the root causes of behavior, and how to translate behavior into productive communication. He is able to identify with learning differences and differentiate his teaching and explanation to make information accessible to his listeners. Cooper has a profound empathy and compassion for those who are misunderstood by society and strives to help all people feel included and able to accomplish anything.
